Dear Member,
I am writing to advise you of a change in the position of Chair of the Staff Social Club (SSC). I am retiring from the Trust on the 30th of September 2024 and as such will be stepping down from the chair role on the same date.
Over the last couple of months, we have gone through the process to elect a new chair, and as a result I am delighted to announce that Jane Melvin, Director of Operations – Surgery and Specialist Services, will take over the role and responsibilities of the chair from 1st October 2024. Jane, who recently joined the SSC Committee following the use of section 4.7 of the SSC Constitution (exceptional circumstances), has been an active club member for many years and having worked closely with her in my day job, I am very confident in saying she will be a fantastic chair who in conjunction with the committee, SSC manager and operational staff will undoubtedly improve and enhance what is already the largest NHS social club in the country by increasing the number, range and quality of events to the Trust’s staff.
I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to all of you for your unwavering support of the SSC during my 7 years as chair, so many sold out events, so much positive feedback, and an ever-increasing number of members (currently just short of 60% of the total Trust workforce). It has been a pleasure and privilege to hold the post and a genuine highlight of my career.
